St Paul's Catholic Primary School Newsletter 2022 Term 2, Week 8
Principal's Message
Dear St Paul’s Families,
I hope that you have all had an opportunity to have a look at our new school website https://stpaulsnt.catholic.edu.au We are always looking for ways to improve here at St Paul’s and so thank you to everyone who completed our two minute survey over the last couple weeks. This is valuable information for us.
In the last newsletter, I specified our 5-Point Annual Improvement Plan for 2022. It is with huge amounts of appreciation that I thank Verity Powell (parent of Thomas and Jonathan) for bringing this to life in visual display.
- St Paul’s Pedagogical Framework
- St Paul’s Data Plan
- Professional Learning for all staff
- Hosting our St Paul’s Art Show with a focus on the messages of Laudato Si
- Continuing to work on our Master Plan
We have decided to focus on five key objectives. You will notice at the bottom of the page we have outlined how this will impact your child and their learning.
- Reduce learning anxiety
- Common teaching and learning routines
- Expediate intervention
- Address learning needs more effectively
- Better student learning and wellbeing outcomes
- Greater understanding of interconnectedness of all creation
- Celebration of artistic talents
- A contemporary and inclusive learning environment
We have been working collaboratively on these throughout the year and next Wednesday, we have the opportunity to share our achievements and our challenges with the team from Catholic Education Northern Territory (CENT).
We thank you for your feedback and support in making St Paul’s the best the school that we can be.
May the spirit of Jesus fill your hearts and bring you a sense of peace over the coming long weekend.

School Improvement Renewal Framework Survey
Please take 2 minutes today to complete this survey...we have extended the response time until midnight tonight 10/06/2022
As we prepare for our annual SIRF (School Improvement Renewal Framework) visit from Catholic Education Northern Territory (CENT) we encourage you to give us feedback on the areas that we are performing well in and the areas we need to improve in. This survey is multiple choice and should only take a couple of minutes of your time but it will provide us with valuable information for future planning.

St Paul’s Catholic Primary School Caritas K’s Event
24th June 2022
In Week 10 Friday June 24th, students from St Paul’s will be taking part in the annual St Paul's Caritas K’s event. Last year we had over 100 students from St Paul’s riding to school and raised close to $2000 for Caritas K’s.
The total distance of the ride to school event is 7km. Participants can complete the whole distance or decide to start at one of the checkpoints located on the map below.
The ride will be led by School Staff, army and other volunteers on the day. The ride will be on bike paths for most of the event. When students do need to cross a road they will be asked to dismount and under the direction of the supervising staff they will proceed to the other side of the road.
Caritas supports long-term development programs in impoverished communities in Africa, Asia, East Timor, Latin America, Indigenous Australia and the Pacific — helping oppressed people to rediscover their dignity by taking greater control over their lives and overcoming poverty.
Caritas K’s is an opportunity for the students at St Paul’s to reflect on the plight of others. Rather than merely donating the money, it is an opportunity for students to stop and think about the millions of people across the world who every day have to travel many kilometers to fetch water, obtain food, get to school or market, or simply to survive. Did you know that the average distance women in Asia and Africa walk to collect safe drinking water is six kilometers, carrying an average of 20kg of water on their heads?
By asking for donations students raise awareness of this reality and through the funds raised we change the lives of many so they don’t have to travel so far for basic needs.
Student’s can bring in money, which will be collected on the day or use the digital web page https://fundraise.projectcompassion.org.au/t/stpaulsprimarycaritasks2022 to donate.

St Paul’s Catholic Primary School Colour Splash Event
24th June 2022
This week we launched our St Paul’s Colour Splash. When we last held our Colour Day, we raised over $20,000 so thank you so much for your efforts!
We hope you will support us again this year. To do so, please go to make a donation in the name of your child / family.
The Colour Splash donation button is a new feature for us and a way that we can raise funds that go directly to our school without administration costs. Please take note of the following instructions:
- Go to the new school website https://stpaulsnt.catholic.edu.au
or https://www.trybooking.com/BZXWI
- Click on the donations button (top right-hand corner)
- Select St Paul’s colour splash
- Select ‘book now’
- Select tickets: Attendee ‘1’ (the person donating)
- Make a donation: Donation amount – select $20, $50 or $100
- Additional information – add the first and last name of the child / ren you are making the donation on behalf of (this is important as we have some families with the same family name)
- Booking details – name of donor
This link can be shared with friends and family to maximise our donations. This is in lieu of a fundraising profile that some fundraising organisations set up. Funds raised from the Colour Splash will go towards new playground equipment. There will be prizes for the highest fundraising – individual and family prize. We thank you for your generosity.
The best way to share our link is to pick five people you think will donate, write a personal message to them and either call, text or email them.
Remember, sharing the page and getting at least one donation, you’ll be increasing our opportunity to give our students great outdoor play spaces!
If you have any issues at all, please contact the school and we will gladly help you.
Thank you in advance for being a part of our 2022 St Paul’s Colour Splash!

School Counselling Program
Hi, my name is Sarah and I am the School Counsellor from CatholicCare NT. I am located St Paul’s Catholic Primary School one day a week on Wednesdays and I'm here to provide students with support and emotional well-being. Through the School Counselling Program during a counselling session I conduct Child Centred Play Therapy modality which is a developmentally appropriate, evidenced based, therapeutic intervention for school aged children from 3-11 years old. This approach is based on the belief that "play is therapy" for children, like when adults talk through their problems to solve them, here children play through their problems to solve them.
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy builds on the child’s inner resources and strengths, which are supported by the therapeutic relationship to bring about growth, development and healing in the child. Play therapy helps children develop confidence and positive self-esteem, find healthier ways of communicating and can promote resilience and coping, in ways that are appropriate to their developmental stage.
Here are some of the following referral reasons that your child may be struggling with and that Play Therapy can be an effective therapeutic approach by referring to the School Counselling Program; divorce & separation of parents, anxiety & depression, low self-esteem & self-confidence, social difficulties, angry & aggressive behaviour, trauma & abuse, grief & loss, autism spectrum disorder, attachment issues… and more…
Play therapy is a gentle intervention that provides a safe and secure space for children to process their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through their first and most natural language; play!
Referrals can be made through completing the form which is avalaible on request at: admin.stpauls@nt.catholic.edu.au
